Inclusive Laboratory Theatre Workshop
This intensive workshop explores inclusive laboratory theatre practices, focusing on the intersection of artistic research and accessibility. It is led by three experienced practitioners from PLAVO Theatre Laboratory: Stojan Simić (deaf actor and dancer), Vera Jovnović (sign language interpreter and actress), and Marko Potkonjak Mare (actor and musician).
Open to artists and practitioners—actors, dancers, musicians, directors—with and without disabilities, the workshop is intended for those interested in inclusive theatre and deaf culture.
Through practical work, actor training, and a theoretical framework, participants will explore intention, initiative, and energy, as well as the impulses that generate action. The focus is on embodiment—working through body, voice, and sign—while prioritizing process over representation. The work centers on presence, perception, and encounter.
Using a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach, the workshop investigates new forms of expression and communication in inclusive theatre. Participants will explore how to build a shared performance language between deaf and hearing artists, fostering mutual understanding, equality, and a common artistic ground.
“I Feel Theatre” is not a method, but an experience—of sensing, connecting, and reimagining what theatre can be.
With over 30 years of work in contemporary theatre, PLAVO has established itself as a strong example of inclusive practice, combining artistic excellence with accessibility. The performance Deaf Dorian Gray – Inclusive Potential of Utopia reflects this ongoing research.
