Originally from Palermo (Sicily), they were probably a wedding gift. Two large oval earrings in repouss gold, entirely decorated with red coral. This type of earring was called "a specchio" (mirror); it was traditionally a wedding gift. Origin: Sicily, late 19th century. 14 karat yellow gold (touchstone tested). An old hallmark appears on the hooks.
