The 3 pin side connects to the engine's factory diagnostic port, while the other end features a standard 16 pin OBD2 (J1962) connector for your diagnostic device. Yamaha equips its outboard motors with a proprietary 3 pin connector, which doesn't reflect the volume of data flowing through itbut it does mean a standard automotive OBD2 cable won't fit.
