The caption writes, "Neither seed nor worm nor sheep made rayon but man; and in all the many years that man has woven cloth to put on his back, this is the only major textile fiber his own brain has ever conceived." The American Viscose Corporation was the first rayon factory in the United States and was built in 1910 in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania. Photography by
