This painting shows a sick mother, whose hand her child is holding, while the caretaker attempts to fed the ill mother a teaspoon of tonic, as a doctor intently analyzes a urine sample. The original painting was initially the property of Prince Eugene until his death, whereupon it became property of the House of Savoy, where it as placed in the Royal Gallery in Turin.
